On Saturday, December 10th almost 50 families came to the Parish Christmas Party in the school cafeteria for the Adopt a Family program. They brought their children, had punch and cookies, drew pictures, and visited with Santa and Mrs. Claus! All were able to go home with gifts and food that had been donated by parish families, school classes, and others. They were very grateful to have the opportunity to come to a Christmas party, let their children visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, and having the reassurance that gifts will be under the tree on Christmas morning and a nice meal on the table in the evening!
The week prior all the gifts from under the Giving Tree were collected, checked and transported to InterParish Ministry in Newtown or to the Children’s Hospital Medical Center for children who are being treated for abuse. These gifts will brighten Christmas morning for over 370 individuals, many children, but also older, single seniors who are struggling to get by!
As in the past, Our Lord Christ the King parishioners have been so supportive of the Christmas program and helping those in need in our community! A resounding thank you and bless you to all those who contributed in any way to its success! We even had rugby teams and yoga studio participate. Much appreciation to those choosing to take ornaments, to adopting families, to making generous monetary donations (which are critical to providing hams for meals and paying for gifts for those families who signup at the last minute), to providing healthy snacks and baking cookies for the party, to volunteering to help in a myriad of ways!
